The Education Committee

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants in Plymouth, Massachusetts, has prepared educational materials about the Mayflower Pilgrims for use in Fifth Grade Social Studies classes, to supplement what they learn about early American History. These materials include the educational packet “Coming to America” as well as educational DVD’s about the Mayflower story (15 minutes) and the Mayflower Pilgrims (43 minutes). These materials may be borrowed by teachers for use in their fifth grade classrooms or by librarians for use in their children’s programs.

The Education Committee also has a scholarship program for high school seniors in the State of Missouri who are planning to attend a college or university. This contest requires an essay on a topic relating to the Mayflower Pilgrims. The Scholarships presently offered include one-time awards of $1500, $1000, and $500, funded by member contributions and corporate matching grants. The Scholarship Application form is available as a down loadable PDF file below.
